I've 5 years of experience into Java Spring boot. I got an offer from Paytm of 32 LPA and 450 units of ESOPs I also have an offer from JPMorgan Chase of 24 Lakhs of fixed pay and 15% ( 3 Lakhs approx. ) of bonus. Another offer from Zee entertainment enterprise ltd / Zeel of 30 LPA. Please help me choose either of these. I'm a little sceptical about Paytm as it is still burning cash. But optimistic as it uses the latest tech. #paytm #jpmc #jpmorgan #chase #choice

The above numbers are probably where I’d want to be
It also depends on my lifestyle
Am I traveling for work
Do I own a car
Do I have debt
Honestly if I moved from DC, sold my car, I would feel comfortable on a 130k salary in NYC, but it would be more tough if I didn’t travel and owned a car and commuter in Bay Area
Just my free thoughts

You need to make at least $120k for the LL to even rent to you at that price (Salary 40x rent). Assuming no debt, then at least that. If you have car, student loan, or other debt payments, then you likely need to make more to be "comfortable".
200+, wildly depending on whether you’re single or not, or have kids and the attendant expenses that come with both.
175k and you will be happy - from personal experience, you will also save quite a bit

Shit. I was paying that much while making 100k. No debt, no car, low monthly expenses, all furniture and utilities were included so I thought it was a great deal haha
Can you get an apartment in NYC for $3k?
Damn, might be time to move back from SF.
$200K. But there are many weeks I daydream of quitting without a backup plan, and spending so much on rent restricts that.
I pay 3.5k in Jersey City and i get about $160k (before taxes). For NYC, I would put 150 for a 3k apartment (City taxes take more out of your paycheck)
I’m in LA and make $175k and spend $3k. For a nice place with no commute that was the cheapest I could find. I was really hoping for $2500. I was worried about paying so much but honestly it has felt comfortable and I still manage to max my 401k and save a substantial amount each month. I have no debt and no kids though.
150k if i don’t have any debts/other major spendings
130 would do it.
If you don't have other major expenses like cars, debt, etc
9k a month a least

120K in NYC (assuming you don’t have a car, which you don’t need in most of the city)
