Just reject the invite and propose something for next week. Then become ‘sick' on the day of and push it another 2 weeks. In the meantime, figure out what this is about / and in parallel - apply for other jobs
nice advice
OP, I’m not trying to make light of what are surely butterflies in your stomach, but it would be weird to get let go right now, and being flakey like EY1 is suggesting won’t get you far. If they want to lay you off, they will literally just call you on the phone and lay you off.
Mid year reviews happened months ago... you would probably have been exited before the break. There is a legitimately honest chance your partner has been too distracted to tell you how you did and is scrambling to let you know (especially if you haven’t had a mid-year review meeting yet). My partner set my meeting he week before Xmas break... Now, if you had a review meeting in November and he’s asking for another, then that’s different.
We can always be fired, but I’d be surprised if that’s the case

Mid year is usually in June so I would say it not that normal
Mid year at PwC is now
Do you think you have anything to worry about?
He could be super behind schedule. I had mine in December. But it’s not on a Friday so I doubt they are firing you
no it’s not normal. Make sure HR is not there in call. I am not trying to scare you but ai was laid off like this exactly 2 months back from PwC.
Sorry! I hope they are giving you a nice severance package.
EY1: only caveat is that if they want you gone even if you are postponing they will make sure you are gone.
Well I’m at Deloitte as well and I call them tribes, but yeah it’s the same idea. Your internal network is a huge factor in your long term success in consulting, and they are the ones that may actually have the power to save you from a bad situation.
These massive consulting firms are in practice very entrepreneurial and tend to operate in small tribes (or gangs, though to me that has bad connotations). Your day to day experience is usually impacted a lot more by the PPMD and small group you’re associated with than the broader firm.
What los? I heard they just ax’d a round of adv partners
It’s not normal but partners can ask for anything at anytime. Same situation in D.
Are you sure it's a mid-year review and not a pre-CRT chat? My RL is doing pre-CRT chats with everyone over the next month.
I am just 6 months into pwc
My group hasn’t done mid year CRTs yet. I wouldn’t be worried walking in. That’s S&. So at PWC.
Cannot compute on January 8th. It either happened and you don’t know it or you don’t do them.
Good luck
Don’t think the worst!
Keep us updated OP. Best luck
I spoke to a few people in my practice. I have had mid Year reviews. The meeting said mid year review and I didn’t get good snapshot for my previous project.
🙁.. prepare for the worst. Good luck 👍
Got laid off. ☹️
messaged you
Sorry sir/ma’am. That is a huge bummer. And surprising considering you have only been here for 6 months.
Did they give any reasons?
Not enough projects in my expertise plus my utilization which was 6% less than expected.
Sorry to hear that
