Hi Fishes, Pls help,
YOE: 13 yrs
Cctc: 13 lpa
Have cleared HCL interview. Initially they offered 23 lpa (via proposed offer letter), but i requested to reconsider it for 25 lpa.
After 5 days, they sent final offer letter of 19 lpa (stating they can offer max 50% as per L4 approval).
Queries:
1. Is this normal or rare case, reducing the offer amount from what quoted initially?
2. Should I accept or negotiate?
I don't have any other offer as of now.

I was just offered a CUNY role. The title is Higher Education Assistant. According to Glassdoor, the average annual pay for that role is $83,418. However, I was offered $62,500. I requested for the minimum annual salary to be 75k. Does anyone have experience navigating the CUNY system and their pay?

Yup, it’s normal for the second line divisions (which is risk). Compensation is pretty low too compared to the industry average for the analyst and associate positions and the perks aren’t great. When asked, they say your first few years are a “loyalty” check and if you get through and become VP that’s when the benefits start flowing in
Genuine curiosity here and not trying to come off rude - just don’t know how else to phrase. Why do you think a sign on would be part of the offer?
I think now companies are realizing the wild “candidate grab” market is slowing down and are not offering sign ons and offers are starting to become more realistic. These big companies are going to need to go on a hiring freeze soon I would assume, so just wondering why people expect a sign on bonus.
It could be. I do not see it being likely long term. With the recent massive talent pool, companies were/are offering higher than normal salaries and sign ons to make it more enticing to accept their offer over competition. Some companies have stopped the sign on, some stopped hiring, some doing layoffs as a result of over hiring or covid complications unfortunately.
You didn’t ask for it but personal opinion: I think many companies are going to be hurting bc they just paid people more than ever and their internal equity with employees hired pre covid will not be getting paid the same. So any other big resignation period, or companies needing to pay more to everyone else to match their last 2 years of hires.
They give you a discretionary bonus your first year. It won’t be mentioned on your offer letter
You can always ask for it. Never hurts to ask.
How much are you getting paid there? I’m working as an intern this summer w/a 65k salary, but I want to know how much more I could make as an analyst.
