Take the temp jobs if you can get them. It's much better to have a contract role on your resume than an employment gap. And as it sounds like you've previously only worked full time roles, I wouldn't worry about this being perceived as some sort of problematic pattern. Plenty of people take contract roles, either as a stop gap between full time jobs or as part of a contract-to-hire path. There's no shame in taking them.
Many companies utilize the temp-to-hire route. This allows both the company and the individual to determine if they are a good fit before actually offering a full-time position. I know this was my preferred way of hiring. You just need to let your recruiter know if you prefer temp contractor jobs or temp-to-hire positions.
