I had a conversation with a colleague who said “good manager beats good job every time” and now I cannot stop thinking about it.. when you look at new roles, do you focus more on who you report to than the company itself?

I have been bouncing between jobs that barely interested me over and over because even if I like the job, the manager would always micromanage or find ways to make a good day bad. I almost felt cursed, like this was it, any job I get is going to be ruined by a crappy supervisor. Until now, I recently got a job I have been aiming to get for a long time, and this is the longest I have stayed at a job so far. My supervisor is the BEST one I have ever had, he pushes me to improve without judgement only when it actually matter’s, he advocates for me when metrics take a dip and actually looks into what caused it rather then take the numbers at face value, he actually talks about my goals and is actively helping me make a clear path to get where I want to go in the company, and life… So yeah, at least for me I have already noticed having a good supervisor is NECESSARY for my performance.

Yes. Because you can work for a large well known company but hate it every day because of the stupid people you spend 8 hours/day with. You HAVE to find a job where you are calm and can talk to your peers without anxiety.

Hi LTI Fishes, I am new to this variable included pay structure. From my first company to current I am getting fixed pay only. So, I know how to calculate my in-hand salary with that. I can see here 10% is variable pay. I have some questions,

1. How much will be in-hand salary?

2. Is there any hidden component which may deduct from my salary?

3. How variable pay will be paid? monthly or quarterly or annually?

4. How much variable pay we will get by Average?

I am tech guy with almost 3yr exp, but I want to switch to a Management role. Going for an MBA is not possible for me. I was wondering about the possibility to switch to a management role within the next 2 years without an MBA. Company/Brand is not a bar for me.
