Is it just me or have you also noticed that during the endless back to back zoom/teams meetings, people drift away and not take down action points?

Action Point No.1:
Stop the back-to-backs

If I actually had time to make coffee then I wouldn’t be only half listening through my 4th meeting in a row while making my custom brew. Priorities folks 👍

1.) Meetings don’t have to be 30 or 60min. 3 G’s - Get in, get to the point, get out.
2.) If you are in the corporate world and aren’t used to jotting down you own notes I don’t know what to tell you. I haven’t seen an admin taking someone’s notes for them since 2002. Very old school power move.
3.) Calendar block breaks are absolute necessity for 30min twice a day at least in this new world. Just put them in your calendar for emails/coffee/bio break/let the dog out. Stick to them and don’t let new meetings override them.
4.) Announce agenda at befitting of meeting and mention 5min for next steps at the end. Quick round robin on who’s covering what. Done. Wave and smile and log off.

They become less and less productive as time goes on. We should move to video free, and keep them 15 minutes max. No need for hour long meetings

like

Yeah - I find myself in this trap. Having lots of meeting but less - prep/notes/followup action.

Then people forget what was decided the previous meeting so we have another one and the cycle continues

likesmart

Use the last 5-10Minutes of each meeting to recap action steps is helpful.

At beginning of meeting, Tell people to 1) take their own notes/actions - don’t expect someone else to do this for you; and 2) summarize round-robin verbally at the end with anyone who has actions/follow ups asked to self-identify them w/due date. - then, capture that list live using shared notes or whiteboard, or just pull up a blank email on “ shared screen” so everyone sees it.
And capture the list as people say it then hit send to all last minutes of meeting.

likesmart

Not sure why anyone wouldn't expect this to happen...

like

Also helps to have a hard time limit on the meetings - don’t go more than 5-10 minutes over or everyone’s eyes will start to glaze over lol

like

The only problem are those people who continually forget their to dos and what happened at the meeting despite recaps and reminders of who is doing what.

like

Do your PMs not circulate notes after??? I have notes in slack posts ready to share before we hang up most of the time

like

Yes, but they often don’t read them or have the incentive to follow through and proactively do the work unless explicitly told.

Has anyone seen any unique places to find UX portfolios or post jobs other than the usual suspects?
Some UX Slack channels were doing well for a while but I definitely don’t see as much traction there. Meetups obviously came and went. Even the portfolio sites like Dribbble and Behance don’t seem that same.
