I had a day off this week or at least that’s what the schedule claimed. But between appointments, errands, laundry, and a grocery trip that turned into a full-blown mission,and somehow still didn’t get everything done, I’m not sure I ever actually rested. By the end of it, I was more drained than on my longest shift. At this point, I need a day off after my day off just to feel like I got one.
Tell me why “days off” always feel like catch-up marathons lately!!

Back when I was getting started in the food world, I worked flipping burgers at In-n-Out. A man came in and said the burgers he had gotten weren’t right. He dumped the food on the counter and then he started throwing them back behind the counter. We gave him a refund and then his demeanor completely changed. He was calmer and he told us to have a great day as he left us to clean up the mess he made.

Once when I was waiting tables, I had a guy pay me cash. The change was 45 cents, which I didn't give back to him because like who wants that. He then asked where the change was, and when I explained that I didn't give back the loose change, he made a big stink about how dollars and cents matter and didn't leave me a tip. He was a republican staffer on capitol hill.

Someone came in and ordered 60 bacon double cheeseburgers… my crew thought I was kidding. 😅
