Traditional > Executive
Frankly I’m 10+ years deep into my career and did a “traditional” part-time MBA. If I had done this 5-7 years ago (late 20s/early 30s) I would say traditional - so much great social experiences and opportunities! Beyond that I think going back to being treated like a juvenile student by program office and some admins is a bit irking when you are a fully responsible adult, and maybe would have enjoyed the exec MBA better.
Do your research, talk to people in the exact programs you are applying for, get their insights and go from there!
I loved the executive one
There’s a ton of variables that matter (age, industry, desired future role), but I’ve never met anyone who regretted doing a traditional MBA
I am finishing my MBA - it’s taken me three years as I work. I wouldn’t say I regret it… but it’s not for everyone. Extremely intense and be prepared to pick up the slack of most of your cohort/peers. There are lots of moments I have questioned the whole process.
The Exective mba program that I’m in is fabulous. It all depends on where you are in your career and what you’re trying to do. I prefer my exec mba classes to the full time classes simply because there is more experience in the room leading to better (imo) discussions. But the full time mbas also have a great experience.
Traditional at a top school is better if you want a new job.
Executive is better if your company is paying and you just need the degree to get to the next level in your current company.
Executive is also much easier to get into at top schools if you have strong work experience but not great undergrad or test scores.
I did traditional, loved it, got my job because of it, doing a DBA next and starting in January.
Where are you completing your DBA, if you don't mind me asking? I completed two MBAs with different concentrations.
Exec MBA all the way, at Ross EMBA now for what it’s worth
What could’ve been…what? In your mind, how could’ve an executive MBA been better for you?
Executive MBAs don’t just shoot out executives out of nowhere, if anything they were already executives or close to it.
I had a great experience at my EMBA.
These are different programs for different life stages though, it’s hard to compare them.
This explains so many Accenture posts on this app
