I just remind myself they're not doing it on purpose. They're having a good time and not thinking about my section. Doesn't make it less annoying, but it helps to put yourself in their shoes.
It honestly depends on how busy we are. If we’re swamped, I’ll keep checking back in to gently nudge them out the door. On slower days, I don’t mind if people hang around

That table knew exactly what they were doing. Patience comes from mentally closing them out before they actually leave. You did your job, anything past that is on them.

That’s a classic test of patience. I usually focus on keeping service smooth and reminding myself it’s their time, not mine. A little humor in your head helps too, like counting the “we’ll head out soon” as bonus points. How do you usually keep your cool in those moments?

Most restaurants have time limits that you can sit and dine. You can kindly say that “I am glad you are enjoying your time with us. However, this table is reserved for another guest” at such and such time. Hopefully, after that, they will get to that. They will need to leave soon.
