Crossroads Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. I have been with the organization almost 6 years and have accomplished achievement of my MSL (Masters Strategic Leadership) and LOVE the organization…BUT…I am not having any success in moving into a new position…my interviews are great experiences but it seems to be a pattern of not being selected yet encouraged to continue applying…received information from a mentor/manager to ask for candid feedback…when is enough…ENOUGH??

I’ve been burned too many times by companies that promise growth opportunities in lieu of proper compensation, so take this with a grain of salt…I’d go with offer one. Maybe there’s an opportunity there to grow the brand reputation of the agency?
100%
Role 1. Turn your pretty good clients into amazing clients. 🥰
Take role 1. The cost of living is too high to take a pay cut. There is no guarantee that in 3-6 months you will get a bump in salary. Tomorrow isn’t promised.
Role 1. 1000%
Well congratulations! It’s great to have options. I would personally go with the first option. You get both title and compensation and you could go after new clients! You could also try to negotiate using your higher offer for leverage. But then you’ll have to make a judgement call wether this is what you want. Share what you end up doing.
Role 1 growth opportunities seem to be a lie these days the largest increase I see with promotions are 8-10%.
I would consider role 1- if agency is not flashy or well known there is ur growth path.. if someone had great clients n great potential they wouldn’t underpay their staff..
I tot role 1 came with good title n good pay both..
Role 2 - hands down. If I were in your shoes, I would regret not taking role to because it seems as though, although you are taking a pay cut and downgrade, it seems as though there’s a future opportunity for growth.
I would take Role 1 as long as that company is open to changes. I once took a position that was higher in pay but didnt really have the kinds of projects I typically worked on. They said they really wanted to pivot to the kinds of job models I was used to, but after a couple of months, it became clear that they didnt want to change anything about the firm at all! Just be sure about the mentality if the company you're choosing.
I’m in this situation now as well
If you haven’t used Role 1 as leverage to try to close the gap with Role 2, start there. “I’m excited about the opportunity to grow the [speciality] practice at [firm]. While [firm] aligns well with my background and goals, transparently, I have another offer from another great [whatever the greatest commonality is] firm for significantly more total comp. Do you believe there’s an opportunity for us to work together to close the gap?”
If both offers are final, take offer one. Downgrading sucks unless it serves a larger goal. A better reputation and the suggestion of a potential raise in the first year aren’t enough to justify a step backward. Unless you’re earning 300k or more in base salary alone (in which case 25k should be insignificant), it’s highly unlikely that your first raise would bridge the gap in guaranteed comp.
I recently made the decision to take a $28k pay cut to be a Site Director that I felt would be more purposeful work , develop me and potential growth with a large legacy organization. It feels good and right with my soul. I hope whichever decision you make, it drives you to a higher purpose of all things outside of one’s own self. 🙌❤️
Depends are you trying to leave agency side and think role 2 could get you there?
Role #1. Sounds like a great challenge. Make the so so clients great clients and find some new great clients. Unless you feel there is zero chance for your own growth with #1. Then I’d go to #2
