I HATE saying it, because I'm such a big fan of women supporting women, but the worst experiences in my career that impacted my motherhood were things done by childless female partners.
One particular comment that has stuck with me for years was when she told a newly married female associate talking about wanting kids was that kids are not a priority during working hours and asked me to validate that. That one hurt.

Justice Ginsburg once said women need to be “a little bit deaf.” Ignore the comments. They typically translate into nothing. Focus on work when you’re working, when you need to be with your family say you’re “out of pocket” or whatever (if you need to say anything) and put your phone in a drawer. Don’t think twice about not responding to an email for a few hours. Work the hours that make sense for your family. Do excellent work and be easy to deal with. You’ll be just fine.
What does “have it all” even mean? 🙄 I have 2 under 3 and laugh at the thought of balance in my life.
Balance is a myth.
Every female attorney who is childless has been like this (in my experience) or the mother unicorns who are still work horses and expect that all mothers should be able to do as they do.
Omg her child will definitely be needing therapy.
I find this a lot with women partners who don’t have children. I also have a 14 month old so I feel ya!
