I'm sorry they're discriminating on a/s/l like it's a 2003 Yahoo chat room? Sheesh.
I suspect they were also doing that in 2003 in Yahoo chat rooms.
If you redact certain information that would be one way to deal with the problem. But it would also be advisable to have a conversation with the manager to remind them of legal obligations and (I assume) how your company intends to follow the law. If they have a problem in behaving in a legal manner then the company should be thinking about replacing them.
I have had multiple conversations with this person and tell them they can't do that. I always get the "i'm kidding" speech. I've reported it to the C-level but they don't see the issue.
I've even set up training sessions for all managers regarding hiring practices to reinforce what we need to do.
The company likes flirting with discrimination lawsuits it seems. Why are you still working for them?
Sounds like the only thing that’s going to work is just blocking the info. If having a conversation and going to others didn’t seem to do anything. It’s crazy how many things like this, blatantly obvious things you shouldn’t be doing, but people still do.
I might consider removing that manager from the hiring process.
