Any good recos on accountants in NYC? I’d really like one who is responsive to emails/calls, explains things clearly, and helps with freelance things like LLC, quarterly taxes, etc.

True. Well his name is Max Kleynburd and he's been pretty great so far. Thorough explanations, replies to calls and emails, very professional. Helped me set up an S-Corp (not an LLC, which he explained why), sends me quarterly tax vouchers, set up my 401k/payroll situation. Great guy and I have a couple other creative friends that use him.

If he’s still alive, Ron McDonald. Yes, that’s correct; his name is Ronald McDonald and he works almost exclusively with freelancers and creative types. Very good with “just make this go away” and is a monster when it comes to deductions. He’ll deduct your toilet paper and get away with it. The man is just this side of a criminal and I NEVER had any trouble with any of my returns when working with him. He’s a genius. He’s one of the things I miss most about New York. I haven’t found anyone like him in Cali.

Yep. He's a bit pricey but I got one that does all that. Hmmm how do we trade info on here?

SC1, just post the CPA's name here and OP can Google them + contact them on their own? If the one you use accepts new clients, not sure what the issue is. It doesn't reveal who you are specifically.

I’ll definitely be looking up Ronald McDonald this weekend

Damn, looks like Ron McDonald moved to Massachusetts!

I'll tell you what it is: referencing!

You have to do so much of it, and it's so annoying. You have to cite your sources, but there are so many different formats for citations! And then sometimes you don't even know how to cite something, and how are you supposed to know that unless you ask someone who knows? And even then, they might not be sure whether it should be an in-text citation or a footnote…
