I have applied to 3 jobs recently wherein I have been asked supply them with my credit report and I can only use the link they provide, no report pulled from any other site will be accepted and I have to front the cost. Is this becoming a new thing? Has anyone else experienced this? I understand the philosophy behind background and/or credit checks, but usually the company will get a candidate's authorization and run it themselves during the interview process.

That does sound pretty sketchy. Perhaps it's a legit thing that's catching on, but I'd be skeptical of any job where you have to pay part of the cost of applying. I'm not saying it's a scam, but it does sound similar to scams I've heard about. You can't be too skeptical these days.

I had nowhere asked me for a credit report, only when i accepted offers, they do a simple background check, but I don’t need to pay.
