If you don’t know what you’ll be spending in retirement, how do you know whether to put the majority of your money pre tax or post tax?

Most people have a lower tax rate in retirement. If you need a rule of thumb, the 22% or 24% bracket is when a focus on traditional is generally more recommended, but it’s your call. You can still get Roth exposure too through your IRA

Your retirement plans need to be flexible if you have additional unknowns.

If you have a spouse, you should both be on the same page on terms of when to retire, the lifestyle you want, and how to get there.

I'd you don't actually have a spouse yet, then you can build in a buffer or try to save for both of you. But honestly you shouldn't expect them to just get in line with your plans.

I am a traditional reservist so I never really used military benefits before, but could use advice here.

I am currently renting and my lease is not up until October 2021, however I found a good deal on a home and scheduled to close in June 2021.

My landlord will not work with me to end the lease early, so it looks like I will have to double up on rent and mortgage through the summer.

If I went on active duty orders, can I use those orders to break my lease early without penalty?

Hey all! I’m 30 years old. About to close on a house with a 5.75% fixed 30 yr mortgage. If you were me and your goal was to maximize your net worth by retirement, would you put a few thousand dollars extra into paying down the house faster or invest that extra money in the market? The 5.75% doesn’t feel that low but also not crazy high so I’m torn. Thoughts? 🙏

I’m 25 and have found a duplex I’m considering purchasing as a rental property. Planning on renting both units and have the cash to make the down payment without an issue. My cash flow analysis has a payback period of 3 years for my down payment and a 13 year payback period for the whole investment. I think financially it makes sense. My question is, is it realistic for a 25 year old young professional to handle dealing with all the extra curricular’s that come with owning a rental property ?
