For those women with children or who are currently pregnant, when did you tell the partner you work with/HR that you were pregnant?

It is so sad that we have to consider this like being pregnant is the equivalent to committing a crime. Times are changing but we’re not quite there yet. Congrats on your new baby.

FA2.... I think that reading between the lines of the original post... if you have to worry about when to tell the partner/hr then it's not all smiles and congratulations. While as a senior successful woman and mother in this business I agree things are better it would be tone deaf to pretend there aren't obstacles for working mothers and actually all women in our industry

I didn't. They figured it out. I was 3 1/2 months along.

like

18 weeks and that’s only bc they were changing insurance carriers and there were no OBs in network within 50 miles. Otherwise I would have waited longer. I didn’t show for a long time though

6 kids.... one as an Army Capt told the BN Commander while he was ranting about having to borrow cooks for an FTX because too many of ours were pregnant... he wasn't happy...
2&3 no problem worked at a bank told around three months
4 just started a new job... told after I spent a morning throwing up also around 3 months. 5 just started working for new boss ... slipped out to peers at lunch ran back to tell him before they did maybe two months... 6 worked for myself ... told everyone early one ❤️

Wtf are you talking about fsp? Who thinks being pregnant is a bad thing? I’d hate to work where you do

Check me here: other side attorney has already reached out to me directly via email saying that an LOI is coming… Then, she sends the LOI addressed to my client, and CC:s me only. It should have been addressed & emailed to me, and copy the business folks, when an attorney knows the other side is represented by an attorney. Am I overreacting for being annoyed?

Are you responsible for giving performance feedback? Avoid giving personality based feedback. Examples include telling an Asian person they are too quiet/shy or telling a Black person they are agressive/abrasive. DO NOT DO THIS. It clearly represents bias in Performance Management. Performance feedback should be tied to business outcomes with clear examples of what the person does well + how they can improve.

Help me understand if my baby will be fine or not.

PARTNERS: two questions —1. If you see an associate has really low hours for the month, do you imagine them chillen on a beach somewhere or do you consider they probably spent most of their days sitting in front of the computer being “available”? 2. If you send an associate a random e-mail on a weekend like “Can you pull X and send to Y”, would you get annoyed if they responded saying they weren’t by a comp or would you consider it reasonable that they wouldn’t be by a comp on a weekend?

Hi all,

My boss makes jokes about me being from a different country whenever there is a work meeting or a gathering with coworkers, even though he knows where I am from. This usually occurs when I meet new work-related people or for example if I am in a situation that involves ethnic related subjects.

What is this? This is normal?

Stereotyping?
Racism?

The first time I ignored that, but now it has become a pattern and is bothering me now. I am south-American working in the UK.

Trying to set family expectations and would love thoughts on 2 things. 1. How long after baby will I be ready for visitors beyond our parents? I’m thinking a few weeks. 2. Our 3 grandmothers are 1-3 hour flights away (3 diff places) and cannot travel. When will we be ready to take baby to see them? I’m thinking 4-6 months but that would also be flu/RSV season. Can’t predict the future but family is already talking about trips and I want to set expectations and do what is best for baby. TIA!!
