I have been applying for jobs for over a year now. I currently work in education. I just want to find a job that is better in pay. Since I have been employed, I have not had a promotion. I have applied myself, trained other clerical staff, do more and blah blah blah. I did not realize that the job market is difficult. More than fifteen years ago, seems as though it was so much easier to get a job and or get a promotion. So good luck to anyone who is looking for something better.

The job market hasn't been so good for about a year or two. It seems like there's just a lot of uncertainty about the economy and a lot of companies seem fearful of hiring anyone. They're more interested in cutting costs or laying people off. I'd been hoping that things would pick up in the new year, but it looks like we're in for more problems as more companies announce layoffs.

I feel this so much, it’s really so rough out here and 2025 hasn't been any better for me so far. It’s frustrating when you’re putting in the work and not seeing it pay off. The job market’s definitely tougher than it used to be but I'm trying to tell myself it's not impossible. I'd focus more energy on networking, that's what I'm doing and it IS leading to more interviews

There are many jobs out there. Depending on your salary (salary.com), your position that is close to your job search (https://www.onetonline.org/), and what you have been exposed to. Take off any dates that concern your education in your resume.

Best everyday bank account and credit card in Australia for an expat couple?

I‘m moving to Australia with my partner and we don’t have a bank account and credit cards yet. We basically need the bank account only for everyday finance stuff (local payments, debit card, etc) and we‘re looking for some credit cards with good international fees and ideally a reward program to collect some points for traveling.

I’m in the biglaw hiring process through an outside recruiter. It’s so frustrating because he’s having these conversations with the firm and only paraphrasing the gist of them to me. He says he can’t forward the exact emails. Is that BS? Why can’t I see what the firm is telling my recruiter?

It's been a challenging year for me, including a rejection from GSAP. This week, I got into my top choice MBA program - and an M7 to boot! Just goes to show that sometimes Deloitte's decisions can be misaligned to the greater world.
I hope that Deloitte gives me the chance to be a good brand ambassador - but at the point, it's up to the firm if I even consider coming back :)

Has anyone else had a mentor (assigned to them by the Company) who seemed to have it out for you? I mean downright sabotage to make you look bad left and right. I didn’t realize it at first. She was fake friendly, but she was discrete too. Some of the executives thought she was amazing, but I had to clean up her work all the time. She wasn’t above me either on the chain of command. Later I found out she had tried for the exec assistant role and they didn’t choose her, they wanted me instead.

Hey! I’m new here and would like some input. I’ve been working in a new position for almost 5 months. In that time I’ve witnessed some unethical and lots of unprofessional behavior.
