Most benefit plan eligibility expires last day of the month. Make your last day early in the month to stay on plan for that month, don’t make it on the 30th/31st.

Yes! This is important!

Tell your direct manager person to person (or on teams/zoom or whatever) then write a note to them and HR. Keep it short and sweet. Like three or four sentences. All you *need* to say is when your last day is, but it’s nice to say thanks for the opportunity or something like that. You can also ask for any necessary paperwork or processes for HR stuff but they’ll have all that for you.

If you know you are planning to leave soon (let’s say in a few months), then makes sense to maximize your 401k 1) ensure you are getting full match (if your Match is already vesting 100%) 2) if you are leaving to take some time off, freelance or join place without a 401k, then up your 401k contributions to the maximum you can manage before you leave your current employer to load up on tax free contributions / lowering your taxable income while you can.

Baby cried and she put him in car seat and tried to rock him along with car seat . She was so nice during the trial (sweeet) but I am confused now on what did I sign up for ! How soon can I retire? I hate hate hate audit and dealing with clients who get upset over everything I do. I got a decent inheritance several years ago ($800k mostly in large tech + $300k FBO trust when I reach 30 yrs old). I don’t care about being rich or climbing the ladder. I just want to live in a cheap country by the ocean. I have no expensive hobbies. My dividends/interest is $5-6k every year. Thanks!

Got a job offer at Deloitte for manager level. Looking for a summary of benefits. I know 401k match but is there a waiting period, do you have something like pwc’s wealth builder. Potentially stupid but serious question alert: I want to move my money from checking to an index fund (e.g., SP500 type) to build passively vs. it just sitting in my bank. My questions arise around how liquid is this (e.g., if I need to make a large purchase and take a portion of the investment) and what are tax implications for short term withdrawals/selling (e.g., I invest 10k, sell 2k to make a purchase, does this actually help financially or does short term taxes /other negate any benefits)?

I’m being promoted to Manager this November but recent got offer from a fintech. In money term the manager base pay is 5k greater than the new role but i’m negotiating to match the offer with my Manager salary. Should I wait until promoted or move asap? I dont want to continue working in external audit so trying to pivot to data analyst role/IA in the fintech before moving to full DA/DS position… but thinking the Manager promotion would help negotiate salary in the future.

Currently contributing 18% to savings (8% 401k and 10% to savings account) and also paying $2250/month for grad school. I have a healthy savings balance and am not expecting and need to use it anytime soon. Is is ok to cut back on what I put into my savings account while I’m in school? Feeling stretched thin and have always had the impression it’s bad to not be contributing to savings regularly. Thinking if I’m paying for school it’s ok to be less aggressive with savings. Looking for input.
