Most benefit plan eligibility expires last day of the month. Make your last day early in the month to stay on plan for that month, don’t make it on the 30th/31st.
Yes! This is important!
Tell your direct manager person to person (or on teams/zoom or whatever) then write a note to them and HR.
Keep it short and sweet. Like three or four sentences. All you *need* to say is when your last day is, but it’s nice to say thanks for the opportunity or something like that. You can also ask for any necessary paperwork or processes for HR stuff but they’ll have all that for you.
If you know you are planning to leave soon (let’s say in a few months), then makes sense to maximize your 401k
1) ensure you are getting full match (if your Match is already vesting 100%)
2) if you are leaving to take some time off, freelance or join place without a 401k, then up your 401k contributions to the maximum you can manage before you leave your current employer to load up on tax free contributions / lowering your taxable income while you can.
