I have been having a hard time actually unplugging on days off. I tell myself I am going to relax but then I keep checking emails or thinking about what I forgot to finish. It feels like my brain never really clocks out even when my body does. How did rest become something you have to actively fight for instead of something that just happens?

I used to be the same way. I had to learn that I don't have to earn rest. You should completely unplug when you are off and enjoy your time. Do not feel bad, nothing is life or death.

I turn off my notifications for my mail app. They can call if it’s an emergency but other than that it will be handled tomorrow. It only took me 15 years to get here lol

That’s what happens when we’re all overworked, life becomes work

If you are able to take any work-related apps off your phone, do it. I find it near impossible to fight the urge to check in with work. Work spends so many hours every week consuming my every thought, it's no surprise we can't treat it like a switch. I had to put physical barriers in place to protect my personal time.

I’m often so on edge after work I can’t unplug. Even when I’m sitting at home trying to enjoy myself doing nothing stress of work just kind of creeps into my brain. So believe me I understand what you’re going through.

I completely understand. I tell myself that my rest is my number one priority. At the very least, I should be recuperating on my days off.

Hi all! I need some candid advice from y'all. How do I get my manager to see my value and see that I'm actually doing a lot of work? For some reason all the other departments & teams I work with always say how grateful they are that I've joined the company because I've really been cleaning things up & making their lives way easier. But for some reason in my manager's eyes all I do is "meets expectations". I already am doing senior level work as the only senior on our team left a month in... (1)

I’m moving to Denver with my husband and cat from Dallas. We are 39 and 40. No kids, we will both be working from home. The idea is to rent for a year and see if we like it. I’m interested in the nature opportunities and I’m in ok shape. Otherwise we are homebodies but committed to making the most of our time there within reason. His sister and family live in the Central Park neighborhood but we don’t have to be around there necessarily. Where should we be looking?
