DONT MOVE TO CENTRAL PARK. I’m moving outta here next month. In the past month:
-car jacking in front of my house that was an active shooter on the run after opening fire in the rec center parking lot
-shooting at the bass pro shops parking lot
-Maserati stolen out of my neighbors garage
-2 incidents of murder within 1 sq mile from me
-teens robbed at gunpoint on the greenway for everything they had
-wake up to gunshots weekly
The violent crime in this neighborhood has gotten out of control.
Move to the west side, get as close to the foothills as u can if you want to make the most out of Denver nature wise
Look into Longmont. My husband and I have been renting here for a year and really like it. The town is mid sized but has most of the essentials, a nice main street, and most apartments are connected to a walking trail. It's also close enough to Boulder, Fort Collins and Denver if you don't mind the occasional drive. We are both remote and have one car, but there is a shuttle service to the airport from Longmont which is great. Also, they have fiber internet.
My mom is putting her house in Highlands Ranch up for sale next week. But, if she’s not satisfied by the offers, she may rent it again. If that’s a part of town that interests you, feel free to DM ne
Golden. Ken caryl. Boulder. All close to hiking
Move to the west side if you like hiking and skiing!
I personally live in Harvey park which isn’t far from downtown and is a super quiet neighborhood. Pretty central to things and it’s on the west side so it’s close to the mountains compared to other places. For reference there are a couple places for sale close to me that are 4:2ish for 650-700kish
My husband and I moved here from STL 5 years ago and we’re in Castle Rock. I cannot recommend it. I have found the people to be stuck up and ultra conservative. On top of that, the place basically shuts down no later than 9:00 p.m. I like Highlands Ranch, Littleton, and Greenwood Village ((checkout Club Greenwood) is my favorite. However, if proximity to work was not a factor, I’d love to be in Golden. Good luck!
Rising Star
If you WFH living in the mountains is an option too. Golden is the most accessible and urban mountain area - you can be in DT Denver in 25 mins. Slightly further would be places like Evergreen and Morrison (30-45 mins to DT depending on exact location)
Golden!
My wife and I just did something similar and rented a place in Highlands Ranch for a year after moving from Atlanta. We decided we don’t just like it here, we love it. We bought a place in Golden, and we’re not looking back. Just wish we hadn’t wasted a year in HR.
Rising Star
For us it’s a combination of peace/quiet, access to the mountains, and natural beauty. I saw a couple tiny fawns this morning. I see fox regularly. We had 3 hawks soaring above our house the other day. I paid for an incredible view which is an instant stress reliever any day. I don’t hear my neighbors. I don’t deal with traffic. I can walk around in my neighborhood and climb 800ft of elevation, getting an excellent work out while also having better views than I get on a lot of hikes.
I can be to multiple awesome state and county parks within 15 mins for more hiking. I can drive and be on top of guanella pass at 11.5k’ in 50 mins or over to Breckenridge for skiing in 90 mins. Restaurant options are limited but there are a handful of decent places within 15 mins. Safeway and Kroger/king soopers are both 10 mins away along with a Natural Grocers organic grocery store.
If I need the amenities of the city I can be to the burbs in 30 mins for Costco, Home Depot, Target, etc. I’m further out than most - if you’re on the 285 side of Morrison then you can be there in 15 mins. If you’re in Golden or north Evergreen you’ll have even more amenities.
Winter is cold, but it’s sunny and dry most of the time, so even in 25 degree weather it really doesn’t feel bad with the sun on you. The sun is more intense at elevation due to the thinner atmosphere.
If you still want to be in downtown, I would suggest the Sloans Lake, Berkeley, Sunnyside, Highlands area.
My mom has been a realtor for 30+ years in the area if you’re interested. DM me and I can connect you
I live in Englewood and you still get a great aspect of city life while being in the suburbs. Also close to the mountains.
