Pecan lodge in deep ellum for bbq
I second this, best bbq in Dallas! Make sure you go before they sell out though
Hard 8 over Pecan Lodge. IMO, PL has is a good comeback story but it’s crowded all the time and it feels like a cafeteria line, like most other bbq places in Dallas. Hard 8 beats them on atmosphere, walking through the pit, getting meat off the grill and sitting on benches.
Number 2, Trinity Grove, just about any restaurant over there depending on your taste.
Third choice, have dinner on N Market St downtown, then walk over to Dealy Plaza and spend some time there. Pull up the Zapruder film and watch it from where it was taken.
Next, if you are near uptown/oak lawn - takeout from Eatzis, an Italian deli. I think they still have half price wines on Tues? You can get a half chicken dinner with two sides and two bottles of wine for well under $40.
Babes Chicken Dinner House for homestyle Texas food. It’s a bit touristy, but the food is pretty good and served family style. This is a local chain and each location serves a different mix of food
Second the 6th floor museum (JFK assassination site), really excellent.
Happiest hour and HG supply! Mi Cocina in West Village!
I’d go meso maya over mi cocina. Or tacos mariachi or velvet taco for tacos. Happiest hour is a cool spot, so is Henry’s. Not a huge fan of HG supply’s food but the drinks and atmosphere are cool
All these suggestions are solid. I’ll add a few more...
Bring a bottle of wine and check out the concert series (and wander) the arboretum... or grab a drink at Smoky Rose or Lounge Here before/after
E Bar is my go to Texmex
Depending on location, grab a Italian beef sandwhich at lunch from the back counter at Jimmy’s
Go get pizza and a martini in the dark hole that is Louie’s on Henderson
Wander around the bishop arts area... cool shops and awesome food options.
Go to the 6th Floor Museum
The botanical gardens are really nice!
If you don't have Snooze where you're at, I would recommend it for bruch!
Tacos El Si Hay in Oak Cliff, cash only, but tacos are ohh so good
Amazing, thanks so much everyone! I can’t wait to try it all now. :)
