I have been on active duty in the Army for the past three years where I have been the Operations Officer (Major) for an Engineer Battalion.

Now, I am looking to return to public accounting. It will take nearly a year to exit active duty. I am a CPA with a masters degree in Taxation and an MBA. I have about 5 years experience working in both audit and tax (LCOL regional) where I left as a 3 year senior associate.

Would one of the big 4 in NYC or Philly be interest in hiring me?

Im sure your old firm would take you back. I’m also sure that if u apply to any of the big 4 they would take you, considering your credentials.

Also, why go public > military > public? I’m guessing personal choice. You can also consider government roles at this point, probably an easy in for you at this point.

A lot of accounting firms try to hire veterans when they can. Job market is pretty competitive and most of the big 4 have been laying off though. Definitely worth applying though.

I’m sure any of the Big 4 would be more than happy to welcome back a vet. If for some reason they don’t have openings, please reach out.

I would love to work for EY in Philadelphia particularly. I'm looking for a Senior Tax role. I've seen several postings out there, but am afraid to apply since I'm a year from being able to start. I will be in Philadelphia for my executive DBA classes in January, March, and April for 4 day weekends. I could easily tack on a day to my trip to interview in any of these time frames.

I'm pretty sure my firm (EY) would be interested. Talk to the person above that said to DM them.

You’re not gonna be enjoying the drop in pay and will be the most overqualified senior at your firm (unless you have 100% p&t to supplement your income). Have you considered pivoting into finance/banking/consulting instead? Recommend looking up ideas here https://www.sitreps2steercos.com/

So I have my bachelors in criminal justice and I just finished my paralegal certificate course today. My attorney should be making partner this year. With that being said I told her that I would complete my certificate by the summer around the time she would make partner. Should I mention to her Monday that I completed my paralegal certificate in hopes that the raise will be bigger or should I wait until June when she makes partner.thoughts?

So I've been at my job for 5+ years as a data analyst/back office support team. I made my way up into making a little over $40k. I've been WFH the past 2 yrs and overtime more than half my team has now been pulled out to work for a diff department which resulted in me taking 90% of our daily tasks to handle. I'm at a point where the salary I'm getting is disrespectfully low for all the work I do. Should I ask for a raise? And if so, how do I go about asking without sounding greedy.

Any Bridge Engineers/Structural Engineers in here? I got my PE this year and have 5 YOE in TX + an MS. What sort of raise would you expect for receiving your PE working in a consulting firm? I am EOR on a number of structures in development, I manage EITs and Drafters (within projects; I'm not a supervisor), and am doing a lot in general. I'm at 78k currently, which is apparently still in the upper range of EIT salaries per a job posting in CO. I'm thinking of 15% (5% merit, 10% PE). Any ideas?
