HR isn't there to protect you. Also unless you are a union facility you don't have an actual right to any representation or ally in a meeting with them.
Take notes, and whatever is said in that meeting send an email recapping it. They will either have to acknowledge what you said is true, refute it, or ignore it (which basically implies agreement). If your concerns aren't properly addressed make note of that too and ask what the next course of action is regarding your complaint of workplace violence.

Best of luck to you @healthcare manager. The above worked well for me. Whatever happened I hope it never does again and that you can get some closure/assistance with what occured.
document, document, document!
You’re the manager that got reported? Or you’re the employee?
Either way documentation and don’t have 1:1 meeting without appropriate third party present. Why would HR not be present for the meeting? Was it not formally reported?
Document, document, document. If you are the one that was reported I would recommend not being around that employee without a third party present. Also, if the allegations are serious, and have any merit, try to do some self reflection and change. Hr protects the company, it’s your responsibility to protect you. If it’s bad enough, I’d start updating my resume.
Thank you
