34 has a breakup of 10 public holidays which are decided based on your location and the other 24 are your actual annual leaves.
You can carry forward 5 of them till March next year after which they will get lapsed.
In essence you have to use 19 annual leaves plus 5 carry forward leaves in a year else they will lapse.
The benefit of this is that people utilize their leaves and take a break from work. Leaves are meant to be utilized and not accumulated for encashing. HSBC recognizes that taking a leave is necessary for employee wellbeing. I am not from HR 😄 but I felt this policy is actually good.
Apart from this I believe 10 sick leaves are also there and how that works? Can you elaborate?
