Sounds like the interviewer is trying to get in someone’s pants.

Soft skills are also a matter of time in correct environment.
Cringe softskillers.
“What breaks your heart?” I died!
“My what?”
The cool thing about Zoom interviews is if the interviewer wastes your time like this, you can just disconnect and you didn't waste your whole day.
Not cringe. It’s thoughtful.
What are you supposed to say to this? “When balance sheets don’t balance…?”

Soft skills are absolutely important and part of a good interview process, but hard skills are still necessary and important. Soft skills alone won't get the work done. You don't hire a candidate with 10 years of law experience to do software engineering work just bc they learned one coding language and are "ready to tackle some challenges!".
Inexperienced people should be cut out during the resume review process and not even make it to an interview. Typically by the time I’m interviewing someone I want to see if they’ll mesh well with the team, get some more information regarding experience, and see if their work style aligns with the culture. For example, our training program isn’t very robust so we need people who can learn independently. All that can be found without asking deeply personal questions. I’m not telling a rando what “breaks my heart.” The interviewer can go somewhere else to satisfy their drama fetish.
