I interviewed with a Senior VP who bragged about sleeping under his desk during the dot-com bubble as if that’s a healthy standard to maintain in 2026. It’s wild how the senior leadership is so disconnected from the reality of modern productivity and the actual cost of living in a major hub. How do you tell a dinosaur that his glory days were actually just a lack of boundaries?

Honestly, you probably don’t. People who wear that stuff like a badge of honor usually aren’t looking to be convinced. If anything, that kind of comment tells you a lot about the culture you’d be walking into.

I'm at a career juncture and have decided on a career in anti-money laundering as my new path. I'm also highly interested in additional education to further my career and am eyeing graduate school. Which is best? A law degree or a master's in international relations? Those are where my interests lie. I keep reading that JDs are valued in compliance but am wondering if a different graduate program is better for my goals. I already plan to obtain the CAMS certification. Thank you!

Also posted over in tech bowl. Looking for advice on whether pursue a CS degree. I’m an older guy shifting to SWE. I finished bootcamp last May & about to start my first jr role at Oracle OCI. Late 30’s with a couple of kids. Is it worth it for me to seek a CS degree at this time/soonish? I’m not afraid of the extra work, and would go part time. Wondering if the eventual payoff would worth the effort. Will I level up quicker? Employer has partial tuition reimb.

What’s the best practice area or type of employer for an introvert? The constant communication of meetings and emails just wears me out. Hey all! I have an interview with
Deloitte in Regulatory Risk and more precisely in their Investment Management Services team. I would like to know if anyone
knows what the job entails exactly. I keep hearing about people "fooled" into taking a job in risk advisory thinking it'll really be advisory while they only end up doing IT and Audit support (which I do not want to do).
Is it the case here?
Thanks!
