I’m an L6 SDM at Amazon but a Meta recruiter sent me an M2 sdm job description. I have all the XP I need from previous job experience but does Meta keep your same level as Amazon? Meaning if I am an L6 at Amazon am I automatically interviewing at M1 or can I jump to an M2?Amazon Facebook (Meta)

Having children makes things more difficult in some ways. It is important that you make sure that you communicate with your spouse regarding expectations and how much you will be away from home. If she is supportive it will make things much better. Also, make sure that you don't forget to do as much as possible with your kids when you can. Both to develop a relationship and to take some pressure off the spouse when possible. In some ways it makes it easier to not lose yourself at work because you have a family at home waiting for you.
It will be what you make of it. You obviously have work to do, but you have the family too. Just make sure you talk to supervisors and spouse about your schedule and to-do list. Make sure you know what your priorities are.
Just being honest, it will be rough. I have 2 kids and Big 4 hours and the need for associates to be in the office or at a client (versus working remotely) to talk through issues and learn hands on will keep you away from your baby a lot. But it kind of depends on how you react to being a mom - some parents are happy to be working the hours bc they place a high value on their careers, some hate it because it takes them away from their kids too much
It comes down to choices....if you are ok with someone else raising your kid then it may work.

It’s tough. I was in a similar position to you. The best advice I can give you is to advocate for yourself and make sure you get on teams with seniors and managers that also have kids. Be open about your time commitments. There is a steep learning curve coming from a non-traditional background, but as long as you don’t miss your first busy season, you should be ok. When you make senior is when it gets really hard
