I just got a signing bonus offer that’s larger than my entire annual salary at my first job. It’s enough to completely wipe out my remaining debt and put a down payment on a condo, but the clawback period is a full three years. I’m trying to negotiate the clawback down to 12 months, but they aren't budging. Would you sign? Any negotiation tips?

3 years is a long time. Only take the job if it is good for your career.
Then if you accept, pretend the bonus doesn’t exist.
Perhaps use some for the downpayment, but not to pay off your debt, unless it’s a very high rate.
Put most of the bonus in a savings account.
Build up your savings until it’s the entire bonus, so you are not trapped in the job.

Do you read multiple books at once? Power through one at a time? Do you set a page or chapter daily/weekly goal? Only do audiobooks? Please share your reading habits so we 🐟 can borrow/steal like artists 🎨.

For me, I set 20-30 pg min/night and listen to a different audiobook to/from work. The audiobook thing is new as I've never read >1 at once. Considering 1 chapter/night w/ 3 different books (3 ch/night)... I just want to read them all though not sure - may muddle if one > others.

Hello everyone! This is my first time posting since joining this platform. I’m interested in connecting with someone who is open to HR mentoring. I’ve been in HR now for about six years and have never had a mentor. I’ve been relying mostly on SHRM and other people in the company for feedback. Even if it’s for feedback, I would really appreciate it. Thank you!

I currently work at a small PI firm in Atlanta were EVERYTHING is settled presuit. If we’re unable to settle, then it’s referred to another firm for litigation. This whole process seems very atypical to me and the attorneys rarely touch a file until the first liability offer is received. The paralegals handle everything from intake to drafting the demands. The attorney briefly skims (does NOT read) the demand packages and signs. Is this ethical?? Anyone else work at a firm that is run this way??

Additional Posts in Salaries in Finance

I am a registered sales assistant which means I have my series 7. I also have the 63 and my Life & Health license. I was a financial advisor but the role is commission only so I decided to take a role as an assistant for some time to learn etc. I really like my role, but I only make 32k a year and after taxes I only take home about 25k. I have a gut feeling that I’m not being paid market value but it’s tough to find comparable salaries. Do you think $15.38/hr is a fair wage in this case?

Does anybody know what the typical salary range is and total comp for someone starting out as an internal or external wholesaler? If you are one of these, can you share about your experience in terms of whether you liked it or not, work life balance, travel, etc?
