Hi Fishes, I cleared technical and MCQ round at Accenture. And got a mail stating i have been selected for HR round. Later the same day a hr called and asked me to upload all documents and asked my expected CTC and stuff. Earlier in portal it was showing interviewing , now it shows review or pending and has a message ' we regret to inform that you experience does not align with req, we will contact if anything comes up' , what does this mean. How can they put something like this?

Go with the job you really want. Life’s too short to be trapped in a role you’re so so about.
I also recommend posting this in the general consulting bowl so you get perspectives from more seasoned people in the industry. I have no idea what the most gentle way to do this is lol
You know honesty works best in my opinion. Go and talk with the person who extended the first offer and explain your situation.By being honest no matter which path you choose , you haven’t burned any bridges and you will make the right decision for you. Being deceptive can haunt you and cause problems down the road! Good luck!
If it was me? You could do the interviews, see if you get the job. If you don't, you've still got a job. If you do get the job, just tell the one you're at it's not for you/some excuse. Most companies expect to lose a few people on the early stages.
Just remember you are likely closing a door (at least for a couple of years) by jumping ship that early.
Honestly I wouldn’t take any risks. Yes it’s shitty to take advantage of a firm’s paid training and quit right after, but let’s be honest it doesn’t make that big of a difference for them than it does for you. I quit a job in the past after two weeks because I was miserable and got a better offer elsewhere, they just replaced me in the blink of an eye and moved on. Happens everyday everywhere. I would say think about your own best interests first and keep your options open. Best of luck!
Very normal thing that a lot of people do. Go with the better job, companies think about themselves first and you should do the same.
Companies don’t feel bad about firing you the second they need, regardless of timing. You shouldn’t feel bad about leaving a week after starting if you get this better job. Do what’s best for your career, it likely won’t even really impact this other company.
yes @ everyone in this thread! maybe ask for an extension on your start date by a week or two
That’s a good idea - I was thinking the same thing
I wouldn’t feel bad for the company lol. Think about when they let you go in the blink when things don’t work out for them. Would they feel bad? The answer is pretty obvious lol
They have a pool of candidates. I’m sure they can easily replace you.
If you get the job at your dream company after starting at this company, by all means go for it.
Maybe it’s my culture and maybe it is why I get stuck in a place for a long time. I tend to be honest and man of my word, if I promised to do something I would see it through. I have had situations where there was a better offer from some other company. I normally pick the one I promised first. They have me a chance, and I gave them my word. It is only fair that I follow through. But I have had experiences where I was also screwed for choosing the one I promised as well. Then friends told me. Life isn’t fair. And you played nice the world won’t treat you the same. But I stuck to my principles. But that’s me. However over time. People who knows me for my word came through for me when I needed to migrate overseas and wanted to try better opportunities where they were involved.
Bottom line, you do not know what is intake for the future. What may seem really good right now, might be another opportunity better remarked where the person you stiffed might be the person evaluating you again.
If it was me I normally stuck to my promises.
When I was in my mid career I was given an opportunity to start off in a more established and branded IT company with a higher position and one step below the country manager or to move to a better country with better economic sense which was someone I had promised to first because he was my ex boss. I chose to honour my promises, 12 years later that relationship took me closer to other parts of the company that gave me a leg up from the support my ex manager gave me. But it also took 6 years before I moved then another 6 years for me to migrate again. Sorry I digress.
