Basecamp is a huge no, speaking from experience. Hardly any automation, navigation is confusing and the layout is not user friendly. I recommend Asana and Jira for project management (Monday is ok too)
I used to work with similar group at large corporation. Workfront is the best but expensive and suitable for large corporations.
For creative project manage, I liked teamwork & Wrike.
Both wrike & workfront you can mark the document and comment the change visually.
Lytho is very strong platform as well.
It all depends on the size, budget & nature of the project.
I don’t vote for base camp at all.
Good luck
I'm not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for, but at my last place we used Asana and Google Drive. I think you can export Google Sheets to export tasks and automatically create tasks in Asana (it was part of a higher tier than my employer wanted to pay).
The benefits of it are that it's very remote friendly with dependencies that alert you when you can get started on a project, due dates (including a range) and collaborators for tasks as well as subtasks.
One thing I've wanted to explore and wasn't able to is Clickup, which from what I understand has more integrations.
We also used miro and it was invaluable for things like designing website and newsletter mockups.
