Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

This would depend on how much I needed a paycheck and how long it took me to get an offer. Getting mad doesn't help you. Doing what is best for you survival will help you. You could accept and keep looking for a better position. Good Luck.
Wow an exact 25% drop...very 🚩 of them. Unless you're desperate, I'd walk. Do you honestly see it getting any better?
I’m learning so much just from reading the comments. I really need to be 100% invested in my pay. I literally have no idea what I make annually.. I don’t know what I should be making and that’s my fault. I need to start investing in myself because no one else will. Thanks!
If they are doing that now, imagine what its like on the inside of that sxxt show.
You could start and have a "time dialiation error" and work 10am to 2pm instead of a "8-5"
First sign of a toxic work environment. I wouldn't fault you for taking the job if you need it, but if you don't, I would bail.
Take that red flag and run. That's not even a modest drop. That's a substantial drop.
Like the other comments, I would advise you to weigh your options. If you are badly in need of the money and if they have a probationary period, I would just buy time and get paid to find something better. Try to do some research on existing employees if they are getting paid on time etc.
That sounds like a helpdesk support tech salary, but without a job description I couldn't tell you what's fair for the role.
If you've got as far as that, they've almost certainly already decided they want you, so be strong and walk away. They will almost certainly call you back. The $14k difference is a lot smaller than the real cost of them having to start again to find other candidates. if you show them you can be taken advantage of at the start, they will keep doing it to you your whole career there.
Excellent Advice!!

Absolutely would say bye bye bye
If you need the money, take the job and then keep looking for other jobs. At least you’ll have some money coming in and don’t put your heart into it. Take the first opportunity that comes your way that pays more money and has a better work culture. You can use these folks as a stepping stone to the real job that you want
Was it Heartland Express? Had the same problem went from 1700.00 a week down to 1000.00 a week. 40 years plus yet company's have closed bought out no records.
Bail
That’s about 2,100 a month no can do
i would say no! thats too low! especially with a masters! dont settle!
I would say you mentioned 51k and I took it……..
How badly do ypu need the pay cheque and how easily can you get hired. If you are fresh out of school with no experience take the job for 1-1.5 years.
Then you will have experience to find a better paying job. It is also easier to find a job if you already have a job.
Walk away for sure, complete bait and switch and a good indicator of what the culture will be.
100percent
Sorry but most of the time you should have another offer to be able to negotiate.
