I keep making it to the last stage of in-house interviews, then I receive a rejection.

I am currently in the final stage of an in-house process expecting to hear back, but I'm pretty sure they've given their first choice an offer, and I'm second in line. (Just a hunch)

How do I know what distinguishes me from being a "great interviewer" vs "trusted enough to handle the job"?

Frankly, if you’re consistently hitting the final stage of the interview process then it’s probably just a luck/timing/fit thing and there’s probably not a lot you can do.

It’s not a resume thing since you’re getting interviews and it’s probably not an interviewing thing if you’re getting through multiple rounds.

Not helpful/ actionable advice, but also don’t beat yourself up over it. (Obviously easier said than done in the moment)

Be yourself, make them like you. Make them want you personally to be there in the room. Don't get formal or cold or nervous.

This is the best advice. With in house interviews, once you actually get an interview you’ve more or less passed the point where they’re meaningfully assessing hard qualifications. Interviews are all about assessing fit and soft skills

No advice, just solidarity. It’s happened to me a few times too. Even when you have an “on to the next” mentality, it still stings

I’m reviewing my resume getting ready to start my job search and have a question for recruiters, hiring managers. I’m looking for a role brand-side not agency side. Specialist roles aside, such as digital, when you see someone describing themselves as a “generalist marketer” is this a resume you’d pass on? My past roles have been such that I do a lot of marketing projects, tasks etc. but I’m not a specialist. I’m worried if I use this terminology I won’t even be considered for a role. Thank you
