How do you get past bad experience with recruiters? Recently got an offer but the recruiter was rude from the beginning and she can't answer any questions about RSU and refuse to negotiate salary at all. The work, the team and comp seems decent but I'm hesitating because of her. Should I still move forward?

Will you work with HR much? If not it wouldn’t be a deterrent for me HR kinda sucks everywhere. You said comp is decent as long as they aren’t lowballing it’s possible there’s really no room to move. If you like the role and team I’d take it.

Seems strange not to negotiate salary when there's a literal hiring frenzy and ultra-competition for in-house counsels. If you are junior I'd say take it, there's always room to grow, get a title, experience etc. If you need to upgrade your salary later, that will happen. If you a more senior attorney with 5+ years experience in-house, then I'd say if they aren't willing to negotiate salary then there's plenty of roles out there that they will.

Is it an internal or external recruiter (just out of interest)? Regardless, if you like the job and think it’s a good fit, why are you hesitating?

Why generalise to the whole office based off the one bad person you met rather than all the good people you met? Just seems like… an unexpected choice.

I just had a similar experience with an internal recruiter. I walked away from the offer (it's less than what I make in house elsewhere and they weren't willing to negotiate at all). I feel like these kinds of offers don't bode well for future compensation, so I'd rather keep looking.

That's a tough question. In that case, if you are generally happy with the compensation and it seemed like a good team then I'd say go for it.

Junior associate here, should I ask for more money if my firm is about 10-15 percent less hours but about 30 percent less pay? The gap will never be closed to the top pay scale at my firm but when I decided to come to this firm the pay difference was about 15 percent and not 30. Would appreciate any thoughts on how to go about bringing this up without pissing people off because I love the firm and do not want to leave
