Take your feelings out of it. Problem solved
You do realize it’s now been 2 weeks, right? And you’re still trolling my post?? Really? That is beyond bizarre behavior.
if you like to be micro-managed this will be a great fit, if not start the job search again.
What a micromanager of a boss
If all the team cannot make it just change the schedule to something comfortable for everyone instead of pushing time boundaries. Thats time boundaries issues
You'd be wise to start looking elsewhere. If you're working for a smallminded person you can't expect them to ever change. Either move elsewhere in the company as soon as you can, or find something new and be gone.
Whoa this sounds terrible
@John Cullen are you determined to come across as ignorant and uninformed? From the question it seems management is taking issue with multiple employees taking breaks at the same time, not about them returning from breaks late.
Rising Star
Ask the manager when you should take your state mandated breaks. Use every minute of those breaks.
Oh another thing—
Recently my colleague asked a question and I gave a reasonable and smart answer, and he told me I was wrong. Then our manager gave the same resolution that I did and he was like “Ok, cool! Thanks!” And of course no one acknowledged that I said the same thing, all in the same thread in the chat.
Ah okie then! 😭
Yes, I’m new on the team but I have 8 years of prior experience and more experience in the particular topic he was asking about. But what do I know? 😵💫
Sounds like a pretty toxic environment. I've dealt with these situations as well - my advice would be to carve out as much of your spare time as you can polishing your resume' and looking for a new opportunity. In the meantime, do just enough at your job to get by until you can leave. Sorry you've had to go through this <3
Breath. You need to adopt a few skills. 1st your in for 8 then out. 2nd let other people's bad work habits roll off your back. 3rd prioritize your work. Stick to state approved hours aka 2 15 min breaks and your lunch, whether it is 30 mins, 45 mins or an hour. If you are working in a call center or handling live chats, before your break or lunch make busy on the system. I've done call center work. What this does is drive your adherence, which is one of the hidden numerics for call center, chat center jobs. You can ease into this by locking your line during the call or chat so you can do the necessary notation and work required before the next call. Try to keep this time around 2 mins or less. Your manager is documenting your work group. How do I know, because a group message was made 1st. One on one discussions should follow. Keep records of the odd and exceptions to the rule for when you have your quarterly review. Good luck.
Back when our tech support group exploded in size. A large number of new tier two techs didn't take breaks, didn't take thier lunches, they took their study guides home. Management let them. The settlement from the state of California, that was forced on to my former employer. The checks that were cut were buy a car hugh. New protocols were instituted. Like forced breaks and lunches, like forced system shut downs if the o t. was not approved, the computer started saving work and logging off. New employees want to pass thier probationary period and will give up lunches and breaks if their managers turn a blind eye.
What is the deal with John Cullen?
Bro is making an ass of himself with his real name on here.
You need to put your big boy pants on, do what you're told. When you run your own business you can make your own rules.
HA,ha,ha
I'm going to assume from your incoherent English and all of the emojis that you're misconstruing what is actually happening for victim points and are someone who generally has difficulty being told to do things because he's his own person.
Good luck in life.
Yes, advocating for emotionally illiterate people who can't handle being told about lunch breaks while they're defended by intellectually illiterate people who don't know how to use punctuation and report comments they disagree with makes other people mentally unwell. Got it, thanks.
It's really common, unfortunately. When I was managing, as long as someone was contactable (usually me, as the manager) in the event of something urgent (unlikely, but critical when it happened), all was good. Double standards, and illogical rules don't help anybody to understand what is required to support a role, let alone that it's a human doing the job who needs breaks, has family emergencies and will give twice as much in return with just a little common sense support.
They are telling you this only to not to leave that particular well-seasoned employee alone
Nah, he does it for other other people including himself. Just doesn’t give me the same consideration. 🤣🫠
Keep ya head up work hard tomorrow they sign your paycheck ! 💪 You got it easy they didn't single anybody it and got on to the whole team
Stop complaining, do something instead.
Your manager has too much time on their hands. They can take the 12-1 shift. Tell them no one will respect them if they aren’t willing to do what they ask others to do.
It all boils down to who needs who the most and if they actually realize it. The old adage that everyone is replaceable is not true anymore. If you’re in the position that they need you and realize it, push back, own the manager. Whenever you hear about how anyone can be replaced, just look at scenarios where that happened, usually the replacement hire isn’t as good and entire division falls apart and a fake narrative is made. But glassdoor erases those narratives.
Hitachi Vantara 1 demonstrates their ignorance once again. I get the strong sense that this job involves physical, on-prem work where "offshoring" would require moving an entire warehouse or factory.
Also, offshore labor is often code for "hire someone who will do the work for a quarter of the cost at an eighth of the quality".
Not everyone knows how to build a team and you see that a lot these days. Hope it gets better for you.
OP, you sound young.
The extent of their problems in life are lunch breaks. Wow, what a really difficult set of circumstances.
Either the manager got talked to or they under pressure from something . Hopefully they not on a PIP and everyone else has to suffer
