I had this with a severe Vitamin D deficiency that was fixed once I spent more time in the sunshine and took a supplement!
I think it's pretty normal. I've read somewhere that blood flow increases to your digestive system after eating, which can slightly decrease blood supply to the brain.. which is what is causing feelings of sleepiness. But are you getting enough amount of sleep at night? It could be your body asking for what it needs.
That afternoon slump can be brutal. It could be related to your diet, like a drop in blood sugar after lunch, or even dehydration. I’ve found that cutting back on heavy carbs and staying hydrated helps. It might also be worth checking with a doctor to rule out any deficiencies!
I think that's pretty common. You might experiment by switching up what you have for lunch. I avoid anything sugary at lunch because I'll get a sugar rush and when that fades I'll be incredibly drowsy.
Could be a sleep disorder - might be worth talking to a sleep doctor
I had to stop eating carbs at lunchtime
However a few years later my auto immune hypo thyroidism (aka Hashimotos) was diagnosed. So it was probably helped along by that.
It still helps if I avoid carbs and focus on protein and veg at lunch.
Oh. And avoid boring work…..!
