I picked up a random AM quick shift. It was nice to see some customers I hadn't seen for awhile. It was very nice. Retail is exhausting but also rewarding! *And yes, I prob said "have a good night" 6 to 7 times an hour... at 10 AM

Oh, I’ve mixed up my time of day so many times. But most customers don’t notice. Did any of your regulars notice that you wished them a good night?

like

yes, prob 3 out of the 5 regulars noticed

The most awkward part is when you pick up the phone and almost say the wrong business name before you correct yourself. I think we've all done it a few times, but doesn't make it less awkward if others hear it.

Once when I was waiting tables, I had a guy pay me cash. The change was 45 cents, which I didn't give back to him because like who wants that. He then asked where the change was, and when I explained that I didn't give back the loose change, he made a big stink about how dollars and cents matter and didn't leave me a tip. He was a republican staffer on capitol hill.

Back when I was getting started in the food world, I worked flipping burgers at In-n-Out. A man came in and said the burgers he had gotten weren’t right. He dumped the food on the counter and then he started throwing them back behind the counter. We gave him a refund and then his demeanor completely changed. He was calmer and he told us to have a great day as he left us to clean up the mess he made.
