Did they mention OFCCP? If they needed someone with that experience, and you don't have any that might be a deal breaker. I do sympathize with your frustration.
I put that one then 100%. They should have never interviewed you in the first place and wasted everyone's time. I think it's also very reflective of a trend I've noticed in the TA world where many companies think HR and TA are one in the same. It should, and always be 2 roles done by 2 different people. I'm sorry this happened to you.
Let's feel equally bad for the recruiter who referred you and scheduled those 4 interviews. The 4 interviewers did not agree that you were the right fit for the role. Did they cover the job expectations regarding compliance. Large companies do need to follow federal policies ie recording of diversity hiring. States have their own labor laws. Perhaps they have been cited or sued for unfair hiring practices. But I would expect that a lot of direction should come from employment legal counsel and a senior HR risk specialist. It sounds like you fit their original description and during the screening process they changed their expectations. That is totally annoying but it is a good sign of how they run their business and manage people policies.
