I recently moved from a cozy neighborhood shop to a big-box store, and the pace and politics are a completely different world. Do you eventually adjust and find your people, or did you end up going back to smaller environments?

I've worked in both and never had a problem adjusting. It's a little bit of a culture shock going from corporate to small biz and vice versa, but you get up to speed quick enough. At the end of the day, it's still retail work, which is mostly just dealing with people. That tends to look the same regardless of company size.

I've worked in different environments and just adapted to whatever was happening. There are times I miss working in one small shop, but being employed by a big chain gives me more stability and better benefits. I don't concern myself with workplace politics, and I don't concern myself too much about relationships with coworkers. I'm friendly to people and it works out fine.

I’ve worked in small, medium and large operations and it varies. It all depends on the culture. Smaller means if there’s issues, they seem magnified. Large operations, you can possibly avoid problems because you don’t always interact with the same folks everyday. Or nice versa. You can have an excellent camaraderie at a smaller place and nothing but drama at larger establishments. It depends.

It’s a shock at first. The pace, the politics, but you eventually find your rhythm and allies. Give it six months before deciding if the scale suits you.

The jump from small shop to big box is a culture shock. The politics and pace can feel impersonal at first. Most people do eventually find their circle, but it takes time. Some adjust and grow into it, others realize they prefer the community feel of smaller spaces. It really depends on what energizes you.

How does anyone keep time well for prayer and meditation while fully giving yourself to family and work in this economy?

One can imagine work here as meant in the maximum of work vs life here.

I know people who are constantly crashing and that’s without the set time for prayer. And despite hearts or gold, obvious piety and a high work ethic.

Hi everyone! I have been in my current role as an EA at a financial institution for about a year and a half now. I would love to find a 100% remote role as a mid level EA at a company with an awesome work culture. I think I’m ready to be challenged again, I find myself bored in my current role… I’m open to any industry but would love to get into tech. If anyone knows of any openings I would really appreciate it! I’m located on the East coast currently. TIA

Anyone from Embark able to tell me about some benefits you have. Like how long is Paternity leave and do you have to be with the firm for a year to use it? Also what health insurance do you have? I saw that Embark fully pays premiums but if it’s a junk insurance company then that’s not so great haha.
Also how often are you traveling / in office? Thanks!
