This brings me back to my first office job. It was mind-numbing in the extreme. I'd knock out my work by like 11 AM, then spend the rest of the day screwing around and taking typing tests whenever someone was in the office near me. They couldn't see my screen, just heard me frenetically pounding away at my keyboard which kept me looking busy enough to not get roped into helping out with other work that was even more boring than mine. Terrible company and job, but my WPM has never been higher than during the 6 months I spent there.

One of the unspoken rules of working life!! We don’t talk about this!

Yes it's funny.
That said, we all get paid to generate results. If someone can do that in 2 hours a day and goof off the rest of the time, cool. For me it's minimum 6 hours a day and sometimes much more. But that's ok ... they do pay me!

Or you can just fix problems. You’ll more than likely be recognized for it, and if not you can hop to another company that will appreciate your experience.
Other option is following this guy on twitter and be an D-tier analyst until you’re 70 years old.
You must be new here.
Hahaha the spreadsheet hack is amazing!! 😂🙌

Nothing worse than getting hired to work a full-time role and the actual work is about 20 hours a week. One role that I can recall was a very small company that was located in the same office as another company. The two companies were owned by the same family. I would go home and cry every day. I have no idea how they are doing currently, but I should have left after the first week. I prefer being overwhelmed on a daily basis instead of being bored to death.

I asked my first boss when someone was going to brief me on what my IC job was supposed to be and she told me they hired me to be a self-starter
