I signed an offer for a job that was to start at the end of the month. I got a email from the company that the job is not happening because they need less people than they thought. Can companies do this?

Unfortunately yeah, they probably can. Most offers are at-will which means they can pull it anytime before (or after) you start. It sucks, but that's the way it is. If you already quit your previous job, you might want to reach out and ask if they'd offer any severance or a few weeks pay given the situation. Some will, most won't, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Really sorry you're dealing with this. Hope things find a way of working out for you.

I just started a new job 2 months ago, benefits and PTO don’t start until 90 days in so I still have a month before I can take off any time, and today found out my company doesn’t offer paid maternity leave.
I’m really struggling handling the symptoms and maintaining my full time job. Thinking about looking for a part time job to have more time to myself through the pregnancy since I won’t be getting a paid leave anyways, but lost on where to start looking. Any recommendations?

I’m hoping to steer clear of any scams by posting & I know it’s been posted before but, again, scams. Anyway, I am looking for something that can be done remotely on nights and weekends after I get home from my daily in-office job. My sister passed away & I’m now helping raise her kids. With Christmas coming, I’m nervous and dreading the season not only to not have her but will I make it a happy one for the kids. I need extra income but need to be home with them in the evenings.
