I absolutely love 7th grade. I find that I have to teach them about class culture and structure or things go south quickly.
When is the appropriate time to ____ ? (decreases distractions)
How does it feel when someone says ___ ? (increases kindness)
They just aren't fully consciously aware of these things.

From my experience anywhere between 6th and 9th grade can be tough. Developmentally a lot is going on, if there are problems at home I think those start to make themselves painfully apartment in class. The bullying often starts around now, and it isn’t for a lack of being naive, they are purposefully doing it then. Very tough times.

I wonder if it’s COVID related-with the online learning and being 12/13 now would mean being 8/9 at the time so old enough to notice disruptions differences pre and post

I think a lot of our reading difficulties stem from the Covid ordeal. I have never seen so many students struggle with reading and comprehension
I taught middle school for 7 years and it was extremely difficult no matter what grade I had. I understand about the behavior. It’s hard!
