Does the ambit and application of ethics vary per the rank and profile of an employee in the organization? For instance what would be an ethical take on the Amazon VP quitting over virus firings?

Leaders play such a critical role in setting the right ethical tone...if leaders aren't bought in, you won't get far with an ethics program in a company. It's really hard to comment about a particular employee or situation at a company like Amazon, there is often a lot more complexity to a story than what you read in the paper.

Agree with leadership buy-in and percolation downwards. Besides, Amazon was just an example, the point to ponder over is the means and modalities for a uniform application of ethical practices from the top to bottom rung of any organization. Employees should have a fair chance to question the system without worrying about repercussions.

Thanks for the response. Good to see leaders on the forum contributing on meaningful subjects.

I joined pwc last month, and absolutely hating it here. Each weekend has been working, 12-15 hours work day is minimum expectation. And there's extreme hierarchy, where even after you spend 24 hours working on something, the director decides he wants something completely different and you delete and restart. (Note that you request them to review and give their pov earlier on, but they never take the time out)

How is AirBnB ethical when its business model exists through legal arbitrage? It has functionally created rental property service without being subject to the same taxes and liability insurance of a regular hotel company due to the dubious claim of “It’s on the web.”

Do you think I should start looking and make use of the shorter notice period during my probation?

Hi everyone, wanted to come back and talk about the work environment at the Washington Redskins/Football Club -- the Washington Post story was pretty jaw dropping. One troubling angle was the use of NDAs to stifle victims. NDAs have for too long enabled bad behavior to continue, and it's time companies pledged to stop using NDAs in settlements with victims -- the coverup is worse than the bad acts. I think Warren torpedoed Bloomberg's campaign due to his use of NDAs. Thoughts?

That feels a little disingenuous and...bad etiquette maybe? What do you think?
