I've seen people get jobs because of who they know not what they know. Everyone remembers it aswell. It's not really ideal for the buisness. Our buyer was someone the MD met at the pub, she was a vet assistant.

I agree with you. Promotions should be earned through proven experience and contribution, not handed out because of connections. Otherwise, it discourages those who work hard to build the right skills. Have you ever seen fairness win out?

That to me sounds like favouritism….. which should never be a thing, the most qualified, great team worker deserves promotion first. I’m all for treating your team fairly and to how much effort and time they put in learning the skills they’re required to learn.
People who consistently deliver and help their teams grow should be recognised first. If politics comes into play, it pushes good people out. Do you think managers even notice the impact?
