Applying to roles within the same federal agency. I know you need one year within the probationary period, but can I apply to a higher GS level? For example, if I'm GS 9, receive a promotion to GS 11 at the end of probation, would i be able to apply to GS 13 roles if I'm qualified? Tried researching this for hours but only found info on applying to other agencies.

No. To be eligible for a 13 you need at least 1 year as a GS-12

like

You are able to apply for a GS 13 if it is an Open to Apply position (External Applicants).

Has anyone gone from audit to analytics type fpa? I’m coming up on manager year and I am kind of sick of accounting. Something for sales development on different product lines seems interesting. Not really sure what is out there / where to start. It’s hard to figure out what “titles/roles” to search for without knowing the true day to day tasks vs the job description (if that makes sense) I feel like I need to job shadow someone to know if I’m interested in what they do vs read bulletpoints

I saw an article the other day about how successful entrepreneurs know their ‘why.’ I started thinking about how that applies to my career and the best answer I could come up with why I stay in public accounting is ‘to pay the bills.’ I have no debt, no wife, no dependents, etc, so what’s the point of all this? I should just quit my job I hate and live a simple life so I have time for the things in life I enjoy. Thoughts?

I’ve heard there are companies that can fast track I-140 applications (by having job advertisements ready for some roles, and PWD too?). Is this true? Which companies are known for faster I-140 applications? In a tight timeline, and considering job change

My company started my GC on August 2021… but they finally submitted the PWD on Oct 2022. They took over a year on this step due to the fact that this is the first time they do the GC with my kind of role in my company…And they will not do the recruitment in parallel with PWD per company policy. I will be satisfy the minimum requirements when it hits Oct 2023. So they will only file my PERM after Oct 2023…

I work through a contractor, and was hired 2yrs ago to be a Systems Test Engineer II.
