It's my first month in a new job as Product Owner. I went from a company that digital product development was their secondary focus along with consultancy services, to a company that their only focus is the product. I’m having the hardest time finding a new job. I have 12 years of HR experience, a masters in HR, SHRM certification, and all I keep getting are rejection emails. I’ve never experienced this difficult of a time searching for new opportunities. Is this normal once you hit a certain level in your career or is it just me?

I am looking to make a career change to HR. I currently make 75K as a sales and development coach. I had a recent offer for a state government position in a talent acquisition role but I’d be taking a $25K pay cut. I am extremely over qualified for the position but it could possibly be a stepping stone and gives me the time to acquire SHRM certifications and possibly start taking classes to get my MBA. My question is those currently in an HR role, would this move make sense to you?

This individual has a doctorate in business with a focus in HR, her SPHR, Federal, and private sector experience at the singer level, and has a fabulous personality. My annual perf discussion is monday morning. I work on a tough team for a tough place. I think Im a pretty good/almost high performer but only around 3 years and my boss seems to still act like I’m brand new (lifer boomer). I try to tell myself he has 6 direct reports and has to do this with everyone, Im no more or no less special - but I hate these convos and negative feedback even when most of it is unsurprising/fair feedback.
