I want to go back to work in November but I just feel so jaded. I’m not going back to my old job but also don’t know if I want to go back to ANY agency. I’m 37. I just don’t think I can do it anymore. Any stories of inspiration out there about how to switch? I was a strategy director of a top 10 Ad agency. Don’t know how to actually leave or what to do 🫠

I get it. My priorities shifted after I had kids and I just wasn’t feeling ANY job. Have you thought about going client side? Or doing strategy for a political campaign you believe in? The money probably won’t be what you’re used to, but any big universities in your area where you could join their marketing team?

I’m 38 and try to remind myself of how I felt when I graduated from college: “holy shit, I can do ANYTHING I want now!”

You can make a small change or a huge change, but life is truly too short to be grinding all the time.

I feel you. I went freelance after my second kiddo and haven’t looked back. It gives me a sense of control over my commitment and my daily schedule, and knowing that (in a perfect world) I could take “breaks” between gigs. Money has been better for me too. Good luck!

My company posted a job opening for a management position for my department and I read the job description… it is literally, line by line, a description of what I do now. I asked what the deal was and was told I should apply and that I’m qualified for the position. Should I be pissed that they didn’t ask me if I was interested in that type of position before they put out a job opening for an external candidate?

Just took a positive pregnancy test this morning!! I can’t focus on work!! I got off the pill in March and figured it would take us a little while to get pregnant. I missed my period last week so took a pregnancy test yesterday (oh the irony) and it was positive! Part of me didn’t believe it so I bought a test from a diff brand, took it this AM, and it was positive again. I’m half terrified and half want to shout from the rooftops!! (It’s our first.) So posting here bc I can’t tell anyone yet!!!
