I recently interviewed for L7 EM at Google and had 4 great interviews and one not so great system design. I submitted external referrals all of which gave great feedback. The recruiter said the next step is team match/interviews and then the HC. Anyone in a similar situation? What was the result? Google

I think it’s first important to define and understand what they mean by taking more responsibility. Did they say it because you are not taking on responsibility or because you have the potential to take on more responsibility?
I would want to assume that they see the potential in you, in any job it would be a learning experience but after you learn it and they don’t recompense you, move on.
It’s pretty easy to tell, are you excited or are you picking up after everyone else?

That is a really helpful signal. I have noticed that when overwhelm creeps in, my tolerance drops fast.
If the company provides guidance, training, or access to tools and people you need to succeed, it’s likely a growth opportunity. If it’s just added tasks with little direction or help, it can quickly turn into an overload. You can also ask clarifying questions upfront about expectations, deadlines, and support. Try to know what to expect beforehand.

I like the idea of asking upfront questions rather than accepting responsibility blindly and hoping it works out.
First of all, congrats on that. It's good to be noticed in that way. I would suggest that it's a bad idea to even think about overload. All too often we can confuse our own thinking and dampen our attitudes by worrying about some potential bad outcome. Just think about doing a great job and moving up. Crush it!

I appreciate the encouragement, but I struggle with the idea of ignoring overload entirely.
