I was reading an article about how SG has great finance jobs and how a lot of Indians are moving there to land better careers. However, this was the most striking point for me. What's the reason Singaporeans don't really cook at home? Is this true or just a baseless stereotype? Would love to hear locals' perspectives on this.

Hawker center food is affordable, convenient and relatively healthy. There was no incentive for me to meal prep as a young, single working adult. I imagine it’d be different if I had young kids and wanted more control on what food they intake.

It's not merely a stereotype, there's definitely truth to it. But it's also not true that houses don't have kitchen facilities. They do, they're just not being used.

It's just that kitchen setups in some homes are minimal, with many young couples opting for smaller kitchens that may lack proper cooking facilities. This trend is honestly a cultural shift towards convenience, where ready-to-eat meals and dining out have become the norm for busy individuals and single-person households. I didn't think it was limited to SG, is it??

1. High share of households where both husband and wife are working
2. Convenient and very affordable food options available within walking distance + high per capita incomes

Pure spoilt and lazy

Not a stereotype - small kitchens and relatively affordable fresh cooked food at hawkers mean it makes sense to eat out often.

Clawback clause in current contract: been in role for over 2 yrs, it was an internal move that required relocation. Relocation was approved shortly after (over 2 yrs ago) but covid meant the actual move and start of my contract with new subsidiary was delayed, I was paid by the previous subsidiary meanwhile. I got small relocation package. Would internal move be subject to a buy-out/clawback clause if I leave now and if yes, is it time in role or time under new contract? Any experience? Thanks!
