Hi Folks,
I have an offer from walmart and sap labs for java, microservices role
YOE : 8.6
Walmart - yearly comp 47LPA (including RSU’s and variable)
SAP labs - 33 LPA ( including variable)
Current CTC : 23.6 LPA
I know CTC wise there is huge difference and no brainer to join walmart ! But will there be an situation for me to regret in future that I chased money and missed an opportunity to work for SAP considering its WLB and other values ?

Does your firm do reference check?
They likely have a top candidate/other candidates in mind. Just keep looking until you have signed
Well that would be funny/sad indeed. Makes me wonder they put me through 4 rounds xD
Yea that’s normal. Not just for banks.
Continue your job hunt in the meantime and tell SC if you have to make a decision on another role before they can make an offer.
My background is oil n gas/ commodities. Usually offers are dished out pretty fast! Thanks for the advice :)
Yah it happens. I personally know of a friend who interviewed for a local bank and had to wait 2 weeks + for an offer.
He managed to get it slightly faster as he had another offer from another company
Ahh I see! Thanks a ton for sharing. Makes me a feel a better that it’s expected then I guess :)
got an offer from DBS and timeline is similar. completed 4 rounds and after final round they only said i’ve been shortlisted and told me wait for an offer. took them 1 week plus for the offer to appear.. 🤨
Yeah seems like it’s a similar case. Think it’s a banking though. Previous companies I’ve worked at like Shell, J&J are pretty fast. Usually draft offer letter and then nego figures. Banking seems to be opposite
Just wondering if you need to have banking/financial industry experience to join banking industry? There’s a role at SC which am keen but they indicated banking experience is required
I would say it depends. You need to demonstrate experience in the skills required for the role. For me though, I’m an engineer, but my background is heavy around data analytics. That helps me switch across industries without too much hassle because people use the same technologies but different use cases. This is mostly the case for tech. But if you want to become an investment banker for example, it’s a long shot. So if you think you have the skills to fulfill the JD, give it a go :)!
P.S Upon rereading your comment, since they say banking experience is required/preferred, I’d say don’t hold out hope.
