I would go to my Union representative and let them know. If nothing happens it will be in record what he/she did. Then I would be looking to transfer to another school within in district for the following school year.
Stay focused on getting through the school year. Don’t put your physical and mental health in jeopardy.
Sounds like your principal and the coworker has issues.
There’s no union in New York State?
This just happened to a coworker. This is the first time it ever happened to them and they have been a complete wreck! I feel really bad for them because of the personal situations and now they have been hospitalized because they couldn't handle another heavy emotional crisis. You are not alone in your struggles and injustices.
Prayers for strength, peace, and support to all 🙏☮️
Merry Christmas to all who celebrate. 🎅🎄🤶
May you find strength and peace during your winter break. ☮️🙏
Even though I know talking about another co-worker isn’t professional, and I understand you said nothing, I don’t see how a principal could write a person up for discussing a situation that is actually happening. Gossip isn’t cool, but as a write up? If that was the case in my building, all my goofy principal would be doing is writing people up. I don’t understand how this is even breaking any rule. Technically, your colleague could have been asking for advice. I would fight this with every fiber of my being. Since your were not talking about anyone means he wasn’t even close enough to actually hear what was being said and is going on the fact he only saw you three together. In my mind this is flimsy evidence at best. I know you like where you work, but if you put up with this principal’s baseless accusation and accept the write up, you’re only encouraging him to assume things about not only you, but any colleague in the future. This situation is a “no can do” in my book. Fight it!
I'm not a teacher, nor do I work in a school, but I notice tattling is prevalent at a lot of jobs, what's that about? Tattle tales are bizarre people, now if they tell higher ups about a trye issue that adversely affects others or the business i get it, but some peopoe tell on things that are so minor and they do it to stir the pot. Me, I do the job at hand, am pleasant and helpful to co workers, try not to talk behind others backs and try to be a positive and uplifting energy at work and in life in general. I cant wait until i never have to work again and am free. I hooe things are resolved quickly at your job and the energy there is better, its awful to have a job where youre stressed like that.
I can feel your pain. I have 2 coworkers in my dept who hate me. I’m stressed out around them and live in fear. They decided to do walk thrus on all of us in their dept and I looked at the nasty comments and it had nothing to do with the teaching strategy they wanted me to use. I showed the union and when we had a union meeting on how our contract negotiations were going, our union people made a point of addressing what the did. You don’t put in writing anything negative about another teacher or their practice. They lost it and have been cruel to me ever since. Mind you, I asked our union if this is how these colleague walk thrus were to look like this—so negative. They refuse to accept personal responsibility and I have a target on my back. Just try to last to the end of the school year.
First, how did the two people in your department find out it was you? Second, shouldn't their be someone above them in your school looking at how they are writing evaluations, like a principal or assistant principle? Lastly, people don't like it when you "know more", "do more" and "out perform" them. Unfortunately and especially in the education system there are a lot of favoritism and this hurts the whole school. I had the unfortunate pleasure of working in a building that worked like a College hangout during meetings. In addition, important members from other departments were never communicated with. You can't leave out whole departments because they know more than the little clique that was formed to help make administrators shine. Yes, I left the school!
I completely understand why it's such an upsetting situation to be in, but I don't understand why you aren't interested in doing something about it? I read your replies, and you seem pretty accepting of a very unfair situation. Either way, it sounds like you should walk away from these coworkers the second they start talking about anything that isn't professional.
That's what I'm going to do. Keep quiet and do my job
Yikes! Is your school normally that toxic to work in. Or was this more like a one off? Your principal was having a bad day kind of thing?
Everyone gossip in that school. Most likely he was having a bad day but he sucks as a principal. I didn't know standing there would cause a write up
And here I am, trying to get my students to understand, "If it's not your business; then, It's Not Your Business!"
